Do Muse Invite Codes Expire?

In the way that matters, yes. A Muse invite code must be redeemed within 48 hours of joining, but the tokens you earn never expire. Here is the window to respect.

1. The short answer

The code itself has a deadline: redeem it in Settings within 48 hours of joining, according to Muse's current invite copy. Miss that window and the code may not work.

The tokens are a different story. Tokens you receive from an invite code never expire. So the code is urgent and the reward is patient. Act fast on the first part and the second part takes care of itself.

Why the split matters: most people blend the two clocks together and either panic about their tokens or get lazy about the code. Keep them separate in your head. The code is a ticket with a date on it. The tokens are credit with no date on it. Once you see the invite system that way, every decision about codes becomes obvious: redeem now, spend later.

One more thing worth knowing early: the 48 hour rule comes from the invite copy Meta shows inside the invite flow. It is the only official timing detail available. Everything else on this page about timing is practical advice built around that one rule.

2. What the 48 hour window means

The clock is about redemption, not about using the app. Once you join, open Settings, find the invite or redeem area, and enter your code. Do it on day one and the deadline never becomes a problem.

Think of it this way: the window decides whether the code works at all. Everything after a successful redeem has no clock attached.

A concrete example helps. Join on Monday morning and redeem Monday evening, and you are done; the timing is behind you forever. Join on Monday morning, forget about it, and try on Thursday, and you are past the window the invite copy describes; the code may be rejected. The difference between those two outcomes is nothing except acting early.

What counts as redeemed? The code being accepted in the app's Settings, in the invite or redeem area. Until you see it accepted, assume the clock is still running. Entering the code but closing the app before confirming, or typing it somewhere else in the app, does not count. Finish the step and confirm it worked.

If you are holding a code right now, stop reading and redeem it. Seriously. This guide will still be here, and the window will not wait for you.

3. Redeem now, do not save it

Saving a code for later is the most common way people lose one. The window is short, so treat every code as urgent. If you have a code, redeem it today. If you are waiting for the right moment, this is it.

There is no downside to redeeming early. Your tokens never expire, so you can redeem now and take your time learning the app later. Saved codes are lost codes.

People also ask whether redeeming early wastes the bonus. It does not. Tokens do not start fading the moment you redeem them. They sit in your account until you spend them.

This is the mistake with the highest cost and the lowest effort to avoid. A screenshot of a code in your camera roll, a code copied into a notes app for next week, a code your friend sent that you meant to use after the weekend: all of these are codes drifting toward the deadline. The fix takes less than a minute.

4. If your code expired

Grab a fresh one. Codes are free, and the community pool is filled with codes shared by members. There is no penalty for missing a window.

Then redeem the new code immediately. Do not repeat the wait that cost you the last one. The full walkthrough covers each move.

Here is the recovery in order. First, get a fresh code from the pool rather than retrying the old one; a code that already failed is not going to start working. Second, redeem it the moment you have it, in Settings, in the invite or redeem area. Third, confirm it was accepted before you close the app. If the new code is also rejected, do not keep trying the same one; pick another fresh code. Section 7 below describes what a rejected code looks like in the app so you can recognize it fast.

5. The tokens part

To be crystal clear: only the code has a deadline. Once the bonus lands in your account, those tokens are yours with no expiry. That is what makes grabbing a code early so low risk.

This split is worth remembering: urgency on the code, patience on the tokens. It is the single most useful thing to know about the invite system.

Practically, this means you never have to plan your usage around a calendar. Redeem a code during a busy week, ignore the app for a month, come back when you have a real task: the tokens are still there. There is no expiry date to track and no pressure to use the bonus quickly. The only date that ever mattered was the 48 hour redemption window, and that is behind you the moment you redeem.

Our tokens guide explains what the bonus actually buys you in practice.

6. Common mistakes that waste a code

Beyond saving a code for later, a few smaller mistakes waste codes every day. Each one is easy to avoid once you know it exists.

Pasting the code in the wrong place

Codes are redeemed in Settings, in the invite or redeem area. Pasting a code into a chat box, a search bar, or a profile field does nothing, and it can make you think the code failed when it was never submitted. If nothing happens after you enter a code, check where you entered it before concluding the code is dead.

Typing the code by hand

Hand typing invites typos: a zero that should be the letter O, a missing character, an extra space at the end. Copy the code and paste it instead. If you must type it, type slowly and compare what you entered against the original, character by character. Typos are a common reason a good code looks broken, so rule that out first.

Retrying a rejected code

When a code is rejected, retrying it ten times does not change the outcome. The fix is a different code, not more attempts on the same one. Grab a fresh code from the pool and redeem that one right away. Repeated failures on one code are a signal to move on, not to keep trying.

Forwarding a code without the warning

If you send a code to a friend, send the 48 hour rule with it. A code forwarded without context often sits unread for days, and by the time your friend opens it, the window is gone. One extra line, redeem this within 48 hours of joining, saves the code. Section 8 below covers the full handoff.

7. What an expired code looks like

When a code fails, the app tells you in plain terms: the code is not accepted, usually with a short message. Meta has not published the exact wording, and it may change with app updates, so do not memorize a specific message. The signal to watch for is simple: you entered the code in the right place and the app did not accept it.

Do not confuse a rejected code with a mistyped code. Before you declare a code dead, check that you pasted it into the invite or redeem area in Settings and that the characters match exactly. If the entry was correct and the app still refuses it, the code is not going to work. Move on to a fresh one instead of retrying.

One useful habit: when a code fails, note roughly when you joined. If you are clearly past the 48 hour window the invite copy describes, you have your explanation. If you are well inside the window and a fresh code also fails, the window is not the problem; get another code or check the walkthrough for the exact steps.

8. Giving a code to a friend? Tell them the 48 hour rule

Sharing a code is generous. Sharing a code without the timing rule is a wasted gesture. The person receiving your code does not know about the 48 hour window unless you tell them, and many expired codes die in chat threads that were opened too late.

Make the rule part of the handoff. When you send a code, include three things: the code itself, where to redeem it (Settings, in the invite or redeem area), and the 48 hour deadline. That is the whole message. It takes ten seconds, and it is the difference between a friend who gets the bonus and a friend who messages you a week later asking why the code does not work.

If you share codes anywhere public, in a group chat or on a forum, pin the rule next to the codes so every reader sees it. Our gifting guide walks through the full approach.

9. What Meta has not published yet

For completeness, here is what is not known. Meta has not published how long a code stays valid before it is first used, or whether codes issued long ago keep working. Meta has not published a limit on how many codes one account can share. Meta has not published the exact rejection wording, or whether the 48 hour window has any exceptions.

That is why this guide sticks to the one timing rule documented in the current invite copy and treats everything else as practical advice. If Meta updates the invite flow, the documented rule is the thing to recheck. Until then, redeem within 48 hours of joining and you are on safe ground.

The short version Redeem every code within 48 hours of joining. Miss the window and the code may not work. The tokens themselves never expire, so redeem fast and explore later.
